Police: Man Who Stole Ambulance Was Under the Influence of Drugs
Man Faces Charges of Grand Theft, Evading Police
A man was arrested in Oxnard Tuesday night after allegedly stealing an ambulance and leading police on a chase that ended in a crashed ambulance and pursuit on foot. The fleeing suspect was later found hiding in the backyard of a home.
Man Breaks Into Fire Station, Steals Ambulance
According to police, the suspect, later identified only as Bradley, broke into a fire station Tuesday night and stole an ambulance.
Police said Bradley then led police on a chase, driving the ambulance erratically and running several red lights. During the pursuit, the ambulance crashed into a parked car before Bradley jumped out and ran into a neighborhood.
Police set up a perimeter and began searching for Bradley. A search dog found him hiding in the backyard of a home, and he was arrested.
Suspect Under Influence of Drugs
Police said Bradley was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of grand theft auto and evading police.
The stolen ambulance was recovered, and the parked car it crashed into sustained minor damage.
No Injuries Reported
No injuries were reported in the incident.
