Champions League Finalists Dortmund Ambitious After Alpha Rebuild

Champions League finalists Dortmund ambitious after 'alpha' rebuild

Borussia Dortmund ready for 'next step'

Borussia Dortmund are ready to take the "next step" after reaching the Champions League final last season, according to CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

The German club lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich in the final at Wembley, but Watzke believes they have made significant progress under head coach Thomas Tuchel.

"We have made a big step forward in the last two years," Watzke said. "Now we want to take the next step and win a title."

Tuchel has assembled a young and hungry squad

Tuchel has assembled a young and hungry squad at Dortmund, and Watzke believes they have the potential to be one of the best teams in Europe.

"We have a very good team with a lot of potential," Watzke said. "We want to play attacking football and win titles."

Dortmund have already won the DFL Super Cup this season, and they are currently top of the Bundesliga table.

Dortmund face a tough test against Real Madrid

Dortmund will face a tough test in the Champions League this season, as they have been drawn in a group with Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and APOEL Nicosia.

But Watzke is confident that Dortmund can progress to the knockout stages.

"We know that it will be difficult, but we believe in ourselves," Watzke said. "We want to reach the final again and this time we want to win it."
