Nerlens Noel Signs 10-Day Contract with Brooklyn Nets
Nets Bolster Frontcourt Depth with Veteran Center
Nets Sign Former First-Round Pick
The Brooklyn Nets have signed veteran center Nerlens Noel to a 10-day contract, the team announced Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, as is customary with short-term contracts.
Noel, 29, is a former first-round pick (sixth overall) of the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2013 NBA Draft. He has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New York Knicks during his career.
The 6-foot-11, 225-pounder has averaged 9.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game in his NBA career. He is a solid defender who can provide the Nets with some much-needed depth in the frontcourt.
Noel played his first game with the Nets on Monday night, recording four points, five rebounds, and two blocks in 18 minutes off the bench in a 116-95 loss to the Houston Rockets.
